Scheduled Maintenance

Storage maintenance affecting data access on thredds.met.no ("storeB") Mar 16, 2026 08:00 - Mar 23, 2026 16:00 CET

MET will perform a storage maintenance which also involves rewriting paths for a large part of our archives.
A large number of datasets will become unavailable during the maintenance, especially our long multi-year archives. There is a risk for some datasets to stay offline after the maintenance while we continue to update paths.
NOTE: URL's to datasets on thredds.met.no will not change, but changes may affect availability of datasets, especially NCML-files and our large archives..

Short outages on thredds.met.no from abusive use

Investigating - The public servers have experienced a number of short outages the past days. The outages have not affected our priority users. We believe the outages have been caused by abusive use of WMS and WCS "scraping" of our datasets, with a huge number of different hosts that perform parallel requests to thredds.met.no
This is a breach of the terms of service and we are considering ways to block such abuse.
