Scheduled Maintenance

Storage maintenance affecting data access on thredds.met.no ("storeB") Aug 31, 2026 09:45 - Sep 7, 2026 11:45 CEST

A storage maintenance is scheduled between Aug. 31. and Sep. 4. This will cause many datasets on thredds.met.no to be unavailable during the maintenance, in the worst case until Sep. 7. It mostly affects "Users", "Projects" and long timeseries in archives, while our weather/ocean forecasts shall remain online.
In particular the long dataseries under "Weather forecasts" ("MEPS Archive/", "AROME Arctic archive/", "MET post-processed products/ Archive + Long term consistent", etc.) will remain unavailable during the maintenance.

Scheduled - Between 10:00 CEST and 16:00 CEST Aug 19. MET will perform a storage maintenance that cause a number of datasets to become unavailable. This mostly affects datasets under "ArcticDataCentre", "Projects" and "User areas", and depends on where data is stored. Our priority weather observations/forecasts shall not be affected.

Update - Please note that there are a number of changes in the builtin WMS service, which means the URL's should be rewritten. Especially STYLES= and PALETTE= have new names, see GetCapabilities for full description.
We would remind users of the Terms Of Service where it is stated that WMS is "intended for demonstration purposes only".

Scheduled - Starting around 07:00 UTC on Monday August 3. we will upgrade thredds.met.no to a new version of the TDS software. The upgrade will be performed gradually during the week so we can monitor the situation and optionally roll back if we encounter severe problems. The most visible impact for users will be the layout of web pages and the Godiva viewer. Users that depend on interpreting the catalog.xml content may also be affected (depends on how rigid you parse XML). Existing scripts that use OPeNDAP should not notice any change. Whether you encounter an old or new version will be somewhat random, but consistent for serial access to thredds.met.no from each unique IP address.
Please contact us at thredds@met.no if you encounter problems during the upgrade, and explain when the problem happened and what URL you used.
Note that SLA customers are not affected yet, if they use the priority access methods.
