Storage maintenance affecting data access on thredds.met.no ("storeB") Sep 22, 2025 07:45 - Sep 25, 2025 12:45 CEST
A storage maintenance is scheduled between Sept. 22. and Sept. 24. This will cause many datasets on thredds.met.no to be unavailable during the maintenance, and likely until Sept. 25. It mostly affects "Users", "Projects" and long timeseries in archives, while our weather/ocean forecasts shall remain online.
In particular the long dataseries under "Weather forecasts" ("MEPS Archive/", "AROME Arctic archive/", "MET post-processed products/ Archive + Long term consistent", etc.) will remain unavailable during the maintenance.

AROME-Arctic update notification Sep 23, 2025 08:00-08:05 CEST
To all users of the AROME-Arctic dataset on https://thredds.met.no/thredds/metno.html
The model will undergo a version change on September 23rd 2025. Expected impact for users:
Technical changes (file format, variable names etc): None
Meteorological changes: The model will be updated to cy46, with updated surface scheme. Overall changes are reduced warm bias during summer, reduction in positive humidity bias, and other minor changes to be further communicated at a later date.

Storage maintenance affecting data access on thredds.met.no ("storeA") Sep 29, 2025 07:45 - Sep 30, 2025 12:45 CEST
MET will perform maintenance work on the storage system September 29. A number of datasets will be unavailable on thredds.met.no from approx. 07:45 CEST and most likely until the following day. This mostly affects datasets under "ArcticDataCentre", "Projects" and "User areas", and depends on where data is stored. Our priority weather observations/forecasts shall not be affected.

Norkyst (v2) stoppes 1. oktober 2025. Erstattes av ny Norkyst (v3) Oct 1, 2025 08:00-08:05 CEST
Dagens Norkyst-modell, versjon 2 (norkyst_v2), stoppes 1. oktober 2025, den vil erstattes av en oppgradert modell, versjon 3 (norkyst_v3). Norkyst_v3 har kjørt parallelt med norkyst_v2 siden 1. januar 2024, og modellresultater siden oppstart er tilgjengelig. Modellen kjører på et grid med samme projeksjon som norkyst_v2, men med større geografisk utstrekning og flere vertikale lag. Varslingslengden er samme som norkyst_v2, dvs. 120h.
Døgnmiddelfiler (AVG) vil ikke lenger produseres. Filer med timesverdier (HIS) som inneholder mange av de samme variablene som norkyst_v2 er tilgjengelig. Variabelnavn og dimensjonsnavn vil ikke endres, men følgende variabler er ikke lenger tilgjengelig:

- vbar
- u (erstattet av u_eastward)
- v (erstattet av v_northward)
- tke
- Uwind (erstattet av Uwind_eastward)
- Vwind (erstattet av Vwind_northward)

Wave model WAM800 will be replaced Oct 1, 2025 08:00-08:05 CEST
The wave model wam800m will stop production on October 1. 2025. This model is running without currents and updated twice daily on the 00 and 12 UTC termins.
Please update your scripts to use the new wam800m_current model which has been in production since April 2023 and is twice daily updated on the 00 and 12 UTC termins. This new wave model includes the effect of currents from norkyst_v3.
Please note that we later this year plan to run the new wam800_current model four times daily, with termins at 00, 06, 12 and 18 UTC.
